Mercy from Generation to Generation is an affectionate look back at what life was like for girls in Our Lady of Mercy College, Parramatta over the last 100 years. It deals very largely in the recollections and reminiscences of the girls who were there - from one of the earliest to some who are very recent students, and it touches only occasionally on larger issues because they were not the concerns of the girls at the time. But by inference at least it tells of the influence that a 'Mercy education' had on generations of young girls on the opposite side of the world from the Ireland where Catherine McAuley founded the religious order with one of it's objects the improvement of the lot of young girls by education.
