This book is an overview of the history of Staffordshire pottery animals in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, by Bernard Rackham, former Keeper of the Department of Ceramics at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He details the move from depicting animals readily found at hand on the farm to more exotic ones found in travel books and zoos of the time. The text is accompanied by colour illustrations of pottery animal examples.

Good condition. Some light tanning on front and back pages. Cover - pictorial cloth boards. Dust jacket has some minor bumping wear at edges.
