The Roman Imperial Navy 31 B.C.-A.D. 324

Author(s): C. G. Starr

Roman | Rare, Collectable, Folios

This is the second edition of Starr's classic treatise on the navy of the Roman Empire.
The book is mainly about the ports, organizational structures, crews, deployments, and uses of the Roman imperial fleets. While the book's focus is on the age of the Roman Empire, with particular attention lavished on the reforms of Augustus and Claudius, an introductory chapter deals with sea power in the Late Republic and serves to set the stage for further discussion.

Good condition. Some pages have short notations and/or markings in margin. Bookplate on inside front cover, and inscription on first page.  Dust jacket has some scuffing and marks.
