A combined memoir/oral history of the Settlement which was established in 1918 by the Chief Protector of Aborigines, as part of a social experiment, the aim of which was eradication of a race and culture. Paints a vivid picture of the life experience of those in the Settlement, while documenting bureaucratic incompetence, official indifference and the occasional outright brutality found at Moore River.
