Widely referred to as the 'Bible' of Australian art, The Encyclopedia of Australian Art is the major reference work on Australian art 1770-1994.
This encyclopaedia covers over 400 significant Australian artists from colonial to contemporary times. The author interprets their place in the development of Australian art based on his experience as an art critic, arts editor, writer, practising artist and gallery director for over 60 years. Artists are selected largely on the basis of their work having been purchased by a national, state or regional collection or institution. Visual arts organizations, groups and societies, prizes and individuals such as writers, critics and curators whose contribution to the visual arts has been evident are also included.

Very good condition. Plastic slip over dust jacket.
